ABSTRACT: To obtain accurate estimate of aboveground biomass (AGB) has grown in recent years, due to the increase demand for this information to generate carbon credits. This has led to a search for new methodologies and technologies for their estimates. We tested the use of the LiDAR remote system to estimate AGB in an area of native forest in the Amazon. It was observed that the models produced were of great importance in helping to understand the ecological processes that drive forest functions. Results are important to support research and field technicians with information related to carbon stock, since observing the dynamics of terrestrial biomass is a great challenge and one of the main sources of uncertainty in the global carbon cycle.
